How to Master Psychometric Tests   Press information

¤ Books: I am the author of a number of books including Your Job Search Made Easy (Kogan Page), How to Master Personality Questionnaires (Kogan Page), How to Master Psychometric Tests (Kogan Page), Graduate Job Hunting Guide (Kogan Page), and Using Psychology in Business (Gower Publishing)- details from Kogan Page and Gower Publishing. Most are available in a number of languages, and free excerpts can be found at Google Book Search.

¤ Articles: I have written articles for newspapers, journals and business magazines, and for example Managing the Difference appeared in Graduate Recruiter. I have produced manuals, reports, guides and e-learning material relating to many aspects of applied business psychology. An example of a widely quoted report (written with Alastair Robertson), exploring the concept of the 'learning organisation', is Securing Innovation & Creativity in Design Education.

¤ Broadcasts: I appear regularly in the media and have contributed to BBC Radio 4's Shop Talk (ST-1), (ST-2), All in the Mind and Testing Times; as well as advising on TV related publications such as Think Yourself Rich, the book of the BBC2 series Mind of a Millionaire (link to BBC questionnaires). I have also been interviewed many times on local BBC & commercial radio. Most recently talking about the psychology of why people leave the completion of their tax returns to the last minute & the dynamics of family businesses.

¤ Production, Advertising & PR: I have worked with a number of production companies and broadcasters, for example Chrysalis Visual Entertainment and the BBC, to develop ideas for TV and radio programmes. These have included game shows involving psychological tests & puzzles (Carol Vordermann's Big Brain Game, Hanrahan Media) and advertising campaigns (Virgin One Account - Uncommon Sense, TBWA). Recently I have been working with consultancy, House PR, on a promotion for a well known hotel group.

Note: If you're interested in knowing how psychologists can contribute to marketing, advertising & PR campaigns have a look at Lars Perner's very readable introduction to consumer psychology.

¤ British Psychological Society: I am a Chartered Psychologist, Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS), and a press spokesman for the BPS on assessment & selection matters, the psychology of entrepreneurs (my PhD subject) and creativity in business.
